Garden and Arts Festival!

On September 13th, Lubbock held its annual Garden and Arts Festival at the local Garden and Arts center. The festival is celebrated in appreciation of the artistic culture of the city. The RoboRaiders held a booth all day long and showcased the robot to over 1000 people who attended the event. Being a chilly day, we sold hot cocoa and talked about FIRST robotics to everyone who showed up. We also sold HexBugs to kids of all ages too. Overall, it was a fun event to be a part of!

Texas Tech Engineering Kickoff 2014

On September 5th, the Texas Tech University College of Engineering held its annual Engineering Kickoff event in which the student organizations of the engineering department came together and showcased what they are all about to all engineering freshmen and incoming students. As every year, the RoboRaiders set up their booth and talked about the benefits of being a FIRST mentor as a college student. We caught the attention of many FIRST alums who were part of their high school teams before they came to college! Over all, it was a good experience and a great opportunity to get the FIRST name out in the university!

Texas Tech Raider Freshmen Orientation Fair!

Last month, as the academic year began, Texas Tech hosted its annual Red Raider Freshmen Orientation Fair which lasted two weeks. The new students are given a view of what the campus looks like, the activities they can be involved in and the organizations they can be a part of. The RoboRaiders held a booth two days, one on August 19th and the other on August 27th. We got an opportunity to meet the freshmen students across campus and  inform them about FIRST robotics and the benefits of being involved with STEM education. We look forward to some new recruits for the upcoming season!
